The monument to Komitas Vardapet was unveiled yesterday in Montreal, in the province of Quebec, Canada. We learn this from the Facebook page of the Armenian National Committee of Canada.
In the announcement of the Armenian National Committee’s office, it is stated that the author of the statue of the genius is the sculptor Mkrtich Tarakchyan, who lives in Montreal.
“The father of Armenian folk song, Komitas, physically survived the Armenian Genocide of 1915, but could not withstand the psychological pain,” is written on the Facebook page.
