Olympic gold medalist, three-time world and four-time European champion Artur Aleksanyan (97 kg) will not compete in the final of the World Wrestling Championships in Greco-Roman style taking place in Kazakhstan, due to injury, where he was to face Russia’s Musa Evloev.
On September 16, the wrestler from Gyumri had suffered a rib fracture during his semifinal bout, as a result of which he cannot compete for the world champion title. Artur Aleksanyan had begun his campaign the previous day from the qualification round and had defeated Belarus’s Aleksandr Hrabovik (5:0), Finland’s Mati Elias (10:0), Turkey’s Cenk Ildem (4:2), Iran’s Abdula Saravi (4:3), and Georgia’s Giorgi Melia (3:1).
Earlier, the committee had stated that Aleksanyan, despite the fracture, would take part in the bout.
