The Armenian-Lebanese Reconstruction Committee announces that it has completed the first and second phases of the registration of housing damages sustained by our compatriots as a result of the Beirut port explosion, having received 1,485 applications.

In the first phase, registrations were carried out in 14 Armenian churches, and in the second phase, in 5 churches. For the success of the work, more than 150 volunteer young people lent their support to this important task.

For your information, we note that over the past two weeks, a committee composed of volunteer architects and experts, working within the National Prelacy, has examined the submitted applications and housing damage files, classifying them into 5 categories, starting from the least damaged homes to the most damaged ones. On this occasion, we confirm that applications validated by the Committee will receive appropriate financial compensation. It should be noted that the Armenian-Lebanese Reconstruction Committee will provide support only for the essential repair of damaged homes (doors, windows, walls, etc.) and not for furniture or other damages, so that by the beginning of autumn it may be possible to make our compatriots’ homes safe and habitable.

We note that the crisis is great and our people are facing an unprecedented calamity. By lending its support to the work of repairing our compatriots’ damaged homes, the Reconstruction Committee is striving to alleviate, to the greatest extent possible, the burden of the damages people have sustained.

The financial compensation process will begin next week at the National United School, under the supervision of the members of the Armenian-Lebanese Reconstruction Committee, the National Prelacy, and supporting volunteers, who will communicate appointment details to applicants by telephone in advance. We hope that, particularly under the dangerous conditions of the current pandemic, our people will follow the established process and, with discipline, facilitate the work.

We are confident that, through cooperation and understanding, it will be possible to complete this work in the shortest time and move on to the implementation of the next programs.
