Armenia Improves Position in World Press Freedom Report

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has published its 2022 World Press Freedom Index, covering 180 countries and territories. Armenia, leading in the South Caucasus region, ranks 51st. Georgia ranks 89th, and Azerbaijan 154th, alongside Belarus and Russia. The report on Armenia notes that despite pluralism, the media remain polarized. “The country is facing an unprecedented level of disinformation and hate speech, particularly related to the territorial dispute over Mountainous Karabakh between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the report states.
