Erdogan Receives Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople Sahak II

In a meeting closed to the press, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, received Patriarch Sahak II Mashalian. The news was announced on Erdogan’s official Twitter page. It should be noted that the meeting between Bishop Sahak Mashalian and Erdogan, which took place yesterday, was the first since his election as Patriarch.

The Patriarch Father was accompanied by his staff-bearer, the President of the Religious Council of Constantinople, Fr. Tatul Anushyan, Vartabed.

Let us recall that Bishop Sahak Mashalian was elected Patriarch of Constantinople on December 11 of last year, registering a large majority over his rival Archbishop Aram Ateshyan.
