French actor Tahar Rahim is to join Charles Aznavour in the biographical film “Monsieur Aznavour.” This was announced on the Facebook page of the Aznavour Foundation.
Tahar Rahim became known to the public in 2009, when the film “A Prophet,” in which he appeared, won the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar. The gripping drama also won nine César Awards, and Tahar Rahim was honoured as best actor. For this role, the actor was nominated for a Golden Globe and for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts BAFTA awards.
Interestingly, the actor portrayed the character of Nazareth Manukyan, a survivor of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, in the historical film “The Cut,” directed by Fatih Akin.
He is currently filming Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon.”
It should be noted that in 2024 the world will see the first feature film telling the story of French-Armenian chansonnier Charles Aznavour, “Monsieur Aznavour.” The film will be produced in France.
Let us recall that Aznavour passed away in 2018.
