Francis Kurkdjian, of Armenian descent, has been appointed new creative director of the renowned French Christian Dior Parfums. Kurkdjian announced this through his Instagram page.
“It is a great honour for me to join Christian Dior Parfums, a fragrance house with an inspiring history and creative spirit, confidently striving toward the future. Today I am glad that I will be able to bring my vision to life through my fragrant creations, while continuing to create for my own fragrance house, which is a great privilege,” noted Kurkdjian.
Francis Kurkdjian was born in 1969 in Paris. His ancestors are from Western Armenia and, during the Genocide, took the path of exile and reached Aleppo, then settled in France.
At the age of 25, he created his first work, “Le Mâle,” commissioned by Jean Paul Gaultier. The bottle of that fragrance was personally designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Francis Kurkdjian is the author of more than a hundred fragrances and scents.
