After Adjara, the center of attention of Georgian epidemiologists has become Akhaltskha (Javakhk region), where specialists are studying the contacts of more than 150 people, according to Rustavi2 television company.
According to media reports, they attended the funeral of a woman whose son, it turned out, was infected with the coronavirus. He had come to the funeral from Armenia, and his infection became known only after he left Georgia.
The citizens are now in quarantine in Bakuriani. Among them is a member of the United National Movement party and the chairman of the organization’s local branch. In Akhaltskha itself, several establishments are closed.
“After the incident, when a person infected with the coronavirus visited our city, a certain commotion arose, all possible contacts of that person were identified, and those people were moved to quarantine zones and self-isolated,” locals told the television company.
In Georgia, 3 502 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection have been registered, 1 494 patients have recovered, and 19 have died.
