According to Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, clear results were achieved during the recent negotiations in New York with the heads of the diplomatic departments of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
“As far as I understood, the co-chairs have agreed on the resumption of regional tours for the purpose of visits to [Nagorno-Karabakh], and on meetings with local representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Lavrov said, as reported by TASS, adding, “meetings are also planned in Stepanakert.”
Russia’s Foreign Minister also noted that the main result of the agreements reached in November 2020 is the establishment of stability in the region.
“The main feature of the nearly one year that has passed since the publication of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, is that stability has been established and it is being maintained. The Russian peacekeeping contingent contributes to the fact that we now do not see any serious incidents. The minor incidents that were recorded in the initial period are quickly extinguished. Let me emphasize once again that the situation there is now stable, although there is no shortage of problems,” declared Sergei Lavrov.
