Through the efforts of the Russian peacekeeping forces, as of 16 December, the safe return of more than 40,000 Artsakh residents to Nagorno-Karabakh has been ensured. According to Armenpress, this was announced on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
“As of 16 December, the safe return of more than 40,000 Artsakh residents to Nagorno-Karabakh has been ensured. Russian specialists of the humanitarian demining center have cleared 195 hectares of territory and 60 km of roads. More than 6,000 explosive objects have been discovered and destroyed,” the report stated.
The doctors of the Russian peacekeeping mission provided assistance to 29 residents, including 4 children, at the Stepanakert field hospital. The opening of a second military hospital has also been completed in the city of Martakert. There, medical assistance was provided to a total of 558 residents, including 67 children.
“In cooperation with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the exchange of bodies of the fallen between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides, as well as the search for the missing, continues,” the Defense Ministry website noted.
