Turkey is acting contrary to the principles and activities of the North Atlantic Alliance, thereby dividing the alliance’s unity. This was stated by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, as reported by the Athens News Agency, citing Greek diplomatic sources.
“US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in an unusual speech for NATO, noted that Turkey is acting contrary to NATO’s principles and activities, thereby dividing the alliance’s unity. In particular, Pompeo pointed to Turkey’s provocations in the Eastern Mediterranean, Libya, Syria and Mountainous Karabakh,” the report said.
Referring to relations between Greece and Turkey, Pompeo noted that the mechanism for defusing tensions, which today is not working due to Turkey’s fault, must be reactivated.
