On 6 February, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received the humanitarian aid offered to the Syrian people by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During a telephone conversation with Assad, Putin stressed that rescue teams from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations would arrive in Syria in the coming hours.
President Putin expressed his deep condolences to the victims of the earthquake and stressed Russia’s readiness to stand by the Syrian people.
