Garo Paylan, the Armenian-origin deputy in Turkey’s parliament, condemned the incidents that took place in front of his party’s main headquarters in Diyarbakir.
Paylan said that what happened was an assault on parliamentarians who are members of the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party).
He specifically wrote on his Twitter page: “The attack on the deputies in front of our party’s headquarters in Diyarbakir is a blatant attempt at murder. Those who carried out this attack and those who ordered it are committing a crime. Stop this vandalism and this attempt at murder immediately.”
Let us recall that a new tension has been registered in Turkey following the incident in which the country’s Interior Minister decided to remove from their posts the mayors of three predominantly Kurdish-populated cities — Diyarbakir, Van and Mardin.
