During a speech the previous day, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while enumerating Turkey’s enemies, also mentioned the Armenian lobby. This was reported by Agos.
In his speech, Erdogan touched upon the alliance between his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which from time to time becomes a subject of discussion.
Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party constitutes the political wing of the extremist nationalist terrorist organization the “Grey Wolves,” and through organizations directly subordinate to the party, called “Idealist Hearths,” it spreads hostile sentiments in all provinces of Turkey against “internal and external enemies,” including national and religious minorities.
Within this framework, Erdogan stated that they will further strengthen the alliance with Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party and “will continue the joint course, despite all attacks on Turkey and the conspiracies of all groups targeting them.”
The Turkish president specifically said: “We will continue to repel threats and encroachments directed at our borders, and to strangle terrorist organizations and forces spreading hostility against Turkey in their dens. We will defend our rights to the end in the Mediterranean, Cyprus, and the Aegean. We will not leave the field to FETÖ (Gülenist organizations), the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), the Armenian and Greek lobbies, and the evil forces of the Persian Gulf spreading hostility.”
