Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that “another provocation is being prepared against us at the UN.”
“The events taking place on the Lachin road have become the cause of yet another anti-Azerbaijani fit of hysteria. Not only Armenia, but even more so their patrons abroad, the states standing behind them, have launched a slanderous campaign against Azerbaijan, and another provocation is being prepared against us at the UN,” Aliyev said.
“For several days now, countries that stand out with particular zeal have intended to carry out their next dirty schemes against us. However, they have not been able to achieve anything yet. Next week they will try to exert all their forces,” Aliyev said, adding that “certain forces are presenting the situation on the Lachin road in a distorted manner.”
“That is another lie and slander, and we all know who the author is. I say again: the state of Armenia is not in the front ranks here. But that means nothing,” Aliyev said.
“We have proven many times, the second Karabakh war showed that, and the two post-war years have shown it. No one can influence us. There may be calls and statements to which no attention should be paid. We respond to those calls merely out of political courtesy. But that does not change our position at all,” the Azerbaijani president said.
