The exclusive interview of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, published on June 25 in the well-known Egyptian daily “Al-Ahram” (founded in 1875, with a daily circulation of 1 million), has drawn wide resonance in other prominent media outlets of the Arab world. This is reported by the Department of Public Relations of the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

Some of them have not only covered the interview but have also reprinted it, once again voicing the words of the President of Armenia: “We cannot forget the Armenian Genocide and we cannot reconcile with its consequences. We cannot ignore the suffering of the victims and survivors, and we must ensure a safe and dignified future for their generations.”

The interview, titled “The crime of the Armenian Genocide has no statute of limitations: The Ottomans perpetrated the most horrific Genocide in history,” has been reprinted in particular by the authoritative Kurdish news agency ANF (Firat News Agency).

The interview has been reprinted in full by the authoritative Syrian periodical “Al Azmina.”

It should be recalled that in the interview, President Armen Sarkissian spoke in particular about the Armenian Genocide, the importance of recognising the genocide, and the lessons of the genocide.

“It is painful to realise that humanity did not learn lessons from the Armenian Genocide; it was forgotten, remained unrecognised and undamned for a long time, which could have prevented subsequent similar crimes in the course of human history. And humanity afterwards again witnessed other genocides,” President Sarkissian had said in the interview in particular. “In my deep conviction, the recognition of the Armenian Genocide is not only for us Armenians, but first of all it is a matter of approach towards universal enduring values, a matter of preventing that evil. It is with this same awareness that Armenia is guided, defining the prevention of genocides as one of the priorities of its policy and actively taking steps in this direction at national and international levels.”
