Glendale, which holds the distinction of being the most Armenian-populated city in the diaspora, has a new mayor — Armenian-American Ardashes Kassakhian.
He was elected to the City Council in 2020, having previously served as the city clerk for more than fifteen years.
Even from those years, he earned the sympathy of the citizens as a knowledgeable, willing and professional figure. The five members of the City Council assume the office of mayor in rotation.
Kassakhian is confident that his work in the new position will not change much and that he will continue to serve the city and its residents, remaining faithful to his principles.
