Azerbaijan has sent a protest note to Iran’s ambassador. Baku is displeased over Iranian trucks entering Mountainous Karabakh “without the permission of Azerbaijan’s authorities.”
According to an official communiqué, Iran’s ambassador to Azerbaijan was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to receive the expression of displeasure.
The ambassador was told that vehicles belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran, intended for various purposes, have recently been “continuously entering and leaving Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region without the permission of official Baku.”
The Azerbaijani side stressed that displeasure on this matter had been voiced previously as well, but had been conveyed verbally. Now Baku has expressed the written hope that “Iran’s new administration will take practical steps to prevent actions that do not conform to the spirit of friendly and partner-like relations.”
