The five fundamental principles for the regulation of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan were conveyed to Yerevan through mediators a few days ago. According to the APA agency, this was stated by the press secretary of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Leyla Abdullayeva.
“The two countries can sign a peace agreement based on these principles through vigorous, substantive, and objective negotiations,” said Abdullayeva.
She noted the 5 points proposed to Armenia, which are:
• Mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and each other’s political independence.
• Mutual confirmation of the absence of territorial claims by states against each other and the legal obligation not to present such claims in the future.
• Refraining from threatening each other’s security in interstate relations, from using threats and force against each other’s political independence and territorial integrity, as well as from other actions incompatible with the purposes of the UN Charter.
• Delimitation and demarcation of borders and the establishment of diplomatic relations.
• Opening of transport and other communications, establishment of other communications, and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
