The situation in Ukraine could last decades. As reported by the Anadolu Agency, this statement was made by Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu during a conference organized at one of Ankara’s universities.
The Turkish minister noted that the Ukrainian situation will be resolved one way or another at the negotiating table and not through successes achieved on the battlefield.
Chavushoglu recalled that at the end of the meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers in Antalya, as well as the meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, the parties were close to a ceasefire agreement, but subsequently moved away from dialogue again.
“Today the conditions seriously differ from those in March. New realities are evident. The situation is more complicated, but hope must not be lost,” noted Turkey’s foreign minister.
According to him, by staking on Ukraine’s military component, there is a danger that the confrontation could last decades.
Let us recall that in the early morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had made a decision on a special military operation against Ukraine, since the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) had requested assistance.
Military operations in Ukraine have been underway for 273 days now.
