UN Secretary-General António Guterres has stated that the coronavirus outbreak, which began in China, is creating a “very dangerous situation” for the whole world.
In his words, “the risks are enormous, and we must be prepared for it worldwide.” In an interview given to the Associated Press agency, Guterres noted that what worries him most is the spread of the infection in regions with “less capacity in the health sector,” particularly in certain African countries. The World Health Organization is studying how it can help confront such a development of events, he added.
Earlier, Egypt had reported the first case of infection with this virus, which raised concern regarding the spread of the disease on the African continent.
