The formations belonging to the Kurdish Democratic Union Party have given Turkish President Recep Erdogan the occasion to invade Syria, but this does not mean that those actions are legal. In Syria, Turkey is acting illegally in every respect. Syrian President Bashar Assad said this in an interview given to RT.
“Erdogan has his own agenda, which consists of two parts: his own goals connected with the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as the tasks set before him as a puppet of the USA. At the same time, the formations belonging to the Kurdish Democratic Union Party have given Turkish President Recep Erdogan the occasion to invade Syria. Erdogan is acting illegally here in every respect, but the occasion for this was provided by them,” Assad said.
He recalled that Erdogan has for years spoken of his intention to invade northern Syria and to “cleanse” the region of “terrorists,” referring to the Kurdish formations linked to the Democratic Union Party.
“They gave Erdogan the occasion. That is what happened. So they are to blame, and as a result, Erdogan carried out the invasion,” Assad added.
Let us recall that on 9 October Turkey announced the start of the “Spring of Peace” operation in Syria. The aim is to create a “security zone” that would serve as a protective belt for the Turkish border. The SANA agency called the operations an attack, and the international community condemned Ankara’s actions.
