European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced in Brussels that the European Union has decided to completely close its airspace to Russia.
“We will close the airspace to all aircraft registered in Russia or controlled by Russia. They will not be able to land in, take off from, or transit through EU airspace,” said von der Leyen.
According to the European Commission President, the sanction extends to all Russian aircraft, including private ones.
The EU does not rule out the possibility of closing ports to Russian ships, but no decision has been made yet.
