Turkey’s highest advisory body of the presidential administration convened a session under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Fahrettin Altun, head of the Presidential Directorate of Communications, issued a statement regarding the five-hour closed-door consultation. Altun stated that during the consultation, the actions to be taken against “the claims presented against Turkey regarding the events of 1915” were discussed. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am.
Altun specifically noted:
“During the meeting, comprehensive steps were discussed that would prevent the propaganda of the Armenian lobby, which uses the events of 1915 as a tool to defame Turkey and our nation, and of countries that exploit this issue for political purposes, based on claims that have no connection with reality. Projects and actions were discussed that would make it possible to present the issue to the Turkish and international public with historical and legal facts.”
The statement noted that the meeting, held under the chairmanship of the president, was attended by council members İsmail Kahraman, Bülent Arınç, Cemil Çiçek, Köksal Toptan, Mehmet Ali Şahin, Yıldırım Akbulut, presidential chief of staff Metin Kıratlı, and head of the Presidential Directorate of Communications Fahrettin Altun.
