We read from the “Ermenihaber” website:
Garo Paylan, vice-chairman of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) and member of parliament, spoke about the march initiated by the HDP, the arrests of deputies and other topics in an interview given to the Turkish news website “T24”.
Referring to the talk that the authorities will ban the march the pro-Kurdish party is to organise, the Armenian deputy stated that this would be discrimination against the HDP, since President Erdogan, Kemal Kilicdaroglu (chairman of the main opposition “Republican People’s Party”) and Devlet Bahceli (leader of the “Nationalist Movement Party”) have walked in whatever direction they wanted, whenever they wanted.
Paylan also answered the question about the authorities’ initiatives to change the electoral code and thereby create problems on the path of small opposition parties entering parliament. The Armenian deputy stated that they are not afraid of these changes, because the HDP has always been able to overcome the electoral threshold and enter parliament.
“The HDP has always managed to enter parliament. No one can defeat Erdogan without the HDP. If a thousandth of what has been done against the HDP had been done against another party, it could not have stood on its feet. But we are standing very firmly on our feet.”
