Georgia will not participate in the second meeting in the “3+3” format either, which is planned to be held in Turkey. This was announced by Georgia’s ambassador to Ankara, Giorgi Janjghava.
Ankara has repeatedly called for the creation of a new cooperation platform, “3+3,” which would unite Turkey, Russia, Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The first meeting in this format took place at the end of last year in Moscow, which Georgia did not attend. In December, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu expressed hope that Georgia would participate in the platform’s second meeting.
Ambassador Janjghava explained that Georgia considers Turkey and Azerbaijan strategic partners and Armenia a historical and good neighbor, “but Russia is a country that has occupied 20 percent of Georgia’s territory.”
