The settlement of the Karabakh conflict will occupy an important place on the agenda of the presidency this year. This was stated by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Albania’s Foreign Minister Edi Rama.
According to him, the OSCE has repeatedly proven that it can operate in conflict and post-conflict situations.
“As the crisis in and around Ukraine remains the most fateful threat to European security, the distinct contribution of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to easing tensions and strengthening peace, stability and security is extremely important,” Rama noted.
According to him, Albania’s presidency will contribute to the respect of OSCE principles and commitments and the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, supporting the efforts of the Trilateral Contact Group carrying out a peacemaking mission and the process of the Normandy format.
As Rama noted, “the efforts of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs regarding the Karabakh conflict, the Geneva international discussions and their related mechanisms, and the Transdniestrian process will also occupy an important place on the agenda of the presidency.”
