The foreign ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan, Sergey Lavrov and Jeyhun Bayramov, discussed by phone the ways to regulate the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
As reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the heads of the foreign policy departments discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international agendas.
“The ministers noted with satisfaction the continued development of multifaceted Russian-Azerbaijani relations and the steady growth of trade and economic ties. The mutual readiness to implement the agreements reached during the working visit to the Russian Federation on 20 July this year was confirmed.
An objective exchange of views took place regarding various aspects of the implementation of the statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of 9 November 2020 and 11 January 2021, as well as regarding ways to regulate the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The importance of the early resumption of the activities of the trilateral working group co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, aimed at unblocking economic and transport links in the region, was emphasised.
Issues of further deepening cooperation on international platforms, including with the UN, the OSCE and the “Caspian Five”, were discussed.
An agreement was reached on further contacts between the foreign ministries,” the statement said.
