French President Emmanuel Macron has declared a first victory against the coronavirus pandemic. According to him, the main challenge for France now is the country’s economic revival, reported DW.
At the same time, the French president asked the country’s citizens to remember that the country has not yet achieved a complete victory over the infection.
“The fight against the pandemic is not over, but I am pleased with the first victory against the virus,” said the French president.
According to Macron, French citizens will be able to travel freely to EU countries starting 15 June.
“From Monday, the French will be able to travel freely to European Union countries,” he noted, adding that travel to countries outside Europe’s borders will be possible from 1 July.
In his address, the French president also touched upon the situation in nursing homes, stressing that “visiting elderly people in these institutions requires obtaining the appropriate permission.”
Macron also reminded citizens of the need to fight for equal rights and against racism.
