Less than a third of the UN member states have joined the anti-Russian statement regarding the situation in Ukraine, which was voiced yesterday at the organisation’s headquarters.
The UN has 193 member countries. The statement was signed by 54 states, namely the US, Great Britain, Albania, Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Georgia, France, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Spain and Ukraine. The statement was read by Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Sergey Kislitsa.
These states expressed regret that Russia has not ceased its special military operation. They condemned Russia’s missile strikes directed at Ukrainian territory.
The authors of the statement called on Russia to immediately cease hostilities.
It should be noted that hostilities in Ukraine have been ongoing for the 181st day.
