Garo Paylan, the Armenian deputy of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), has responded to a post by Turkish independent deputy Ümit Özdağ, who issued threats against him. This was reported by Ermenihaber.

“The trash that harbors a mentality of exterminating my people says, ‘we will do it again’ (exterminate – ed.).

Did you shoot and we did not die? We died. However, those who remain have not ceased the struggle for justice, and after me they will not cease it either,” said Paylan, continuing, “The conscientious majority of this country will not leave the field to fascists like you, and has not left it…”

In support of Paylan, a number of party figures issued statements criticizing Özdağ.

It should be recalled that Özdağ, referring to Paylan’s Twitter post on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, threatened him with the genocide perpetrated by Talaat Pasha.
