In an unannounced visit, President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar Assad was in Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The news was reported by the “Al Mayadeen” station.
The source also reported that during the meeting of the two leaders, the sides discussed the general situation in Syria and the latest developments.
The Kremlin also issued a brief statement on this, saying that during the meeting Assad expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation and its people for their support shown to Syria.
Assad also said that external parties continue to interfere, so that Syria’s problem is resolved on a political platform, noting that the two armies — of Russia and Syria — made important achievements and still protect the whole world against terrorists.
For his part, Putin said that the Syrian president is making great efforts to speak with the country’s opposition segments, and today Syria’s main problem is the presence of external forces in Syria.
