The escalation around the Lachin Corridor complicates the work on signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.
“Of course, incidents such as the current escalation around the Lachin Corridor cannot but complicate the background of the negotiations, including those on a peace treaty. The Russian side is making vigorous efforts to settle the situation,” the deputy minister said.
According to Galuzin, the timeframe for reaching agreement on the document is not so important; the main thing is that Baku and Yerevan can reach a mutually acceptable solution that would guarantee a stable and just peace in the region.
In his words, the Russian side is ready to support the negotiation process in the manner recorded in the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia following the results of the Sochi summit on 31 October.
