The number of coronavirus infection cases worldwide has reached 2,408,160. According to worldometers.info/coronavirus/, 165,105 patients have died and 629,061 have recovered.
Over the past few days, the situation regarding the coronavirus has begun to stabilise in some countries, while in others it is, on the contrary, worsening. We present to your attention the 10 countries where the most cases of COVID-19 infection and consequent deaths have been recorded so far.
1. USA
In the United States, according to the latest data, there are already 764,265 infected, and 40,565 patients have died. The USA now ranks first in the world both in terms of the number of carriers and the mortality rate. There are 2,309 infection cases per million people — a fairly high figure.
2. Spain
In Spain, 198,674 cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded — 4,249 cases per million people. The number of deaths is 20,453.
3. Italy
In Italy, 178,972 people have been infected (2,960 per million), and 23,660 people have died.
4. France
In terms of the number of patients, France now ranks fourth in the world, where 152,894 people have been infected with the coronavirus (2,342 per million) and 19,718 people have died.
5. Germany
Germany ranks fifth with 145,742 infected (1,739 people per million) and 4,642 deaths. It is interesting that the mortality rate from the coronavirus in Germany is much lower than in the case of the four countries listed above.
6. Great Britain
In Great Britain, 120,067 infection and 16,060 death cases have been recorded. There are 1,769 infected per million people.
7. Turkey
Recently, Turkey has overtaken Iran and China in the number of infected; the number of infected is 86,306, and the number of deaths is 2,017. Per million people, there are 1,023 infection cases here.
8. China
China is the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic, and some time ago it had the most infected and victims. Nevertheless, today China ranks only 8th in the world in the number of infected (82,747, with new cases being recorded increasingly rarely), and the mortality rate is low compared to many other countries: 4,632 patients have died here during the pandemic.
9. Iran
The situation in Iran seems to have begun to stabilise. A few weeks ago, Iran ranked 2nd-3rd in the number of infected and deaths, while today it is already 9th: 82,211 infection and 5,118 death cases have been recorded here.
10. Russia
Recently, Russia has entered the dozen countries with the highest spread of the coronavirus. Here, the coronavirus has been diagnosed in 47,121 patients, of whom 405 have died.
Let us recall that 48 new cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Armenia. In total, as of 20 April, 1,339 cases have been recorded in the country. The results of 13,373 tests are negative. 737 people continue to receive treatment. 580 people have recovered, and 22 patients have died.
