The city of Southfield in the state of Michigan, United States, declared April 24 as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. The decision was signed by Mayor Kenson Silver.
The Armenian National Committee expressed gratitude to the city council for joining the Armenian community on the 107th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
“The series of genocides will continue if we do not hold the perpetrators accountable,” added the Armenian National Committee of Michigan.
April 24 has also been declared Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day in another city in the state of Michigan, Farmington Hills.
