Tokyo Olympics Postponed Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

The Tokyo Summer Olympics are to be postponed by one year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters that during a conversation with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, he proposed postponing the Olympics by one year. According to the Prime Minister, Thomas Bach agreed 100 percent. “This decision, unprecedented for peacetime, was taken in light of the current situation. All parties want a safe and secure environment for the athletes and the spectators,” the Japanese Prime Minister said.
