Turkey’s actions are directed not only against Cyprus but against all countries in the region. Cyprus’s Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides said this in an interview with Greek OpenTV.
According to him, Ankara’s actions raise concern among all states in the region and beyond its borders. “I spoke with my German counterpart on Tuesday. It was evident that he was concerned about Turkey’s actions, statements and generally its approach, which violates the fundamental principles of international law.”
He noted that Cyprus and Greece maintain constant contact, adding that the two countries are taking all necessary measures to avoid a possible “hot incident.” “Everyone understands that such a development of events could be very negative,” he said.
The Foreign Minister of Cyprus also mentioned the cooperation of Cyprus and Greece with other countries in the region, noting that an initiative will soon be announced with the states affected by Turkey’s illegal actions.
