Ukraine received 30 times more arms from Turkey in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period the previous year.
This has become known from data published by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly. Accordingly, Turkey exported 59.1 million dollars’ worth of arms and ammunition to Ukraine in 2022, compared to 1.9 million dollars in the first quarter of 2021.
It is noted that in recent years Ukraine has purchased more than 20 “Bayraktar TB2” attack drones from the Turkish company “Baykar Makina” and ordered a further 16 at the end of January. This batch was delivered at the beginning of March.
According to the published data, Ankara’s overall defence exports in the first quarter increased by 48.6% compared to the previous year. Turkey exported 3,224 billion dollars’ worth of defence products in 2021, 41.5 percent more than in 2020.
