An unknown person struck French President Emmanuel Macron in the face. The incident took place during the head of state’s visit to the Drôme department.
In a video circulated on social media, the French leader is seen approaching people waiting for him and taking one of the men’s hands, but the latter slaps the president with his other hand.
After that, security personnel intervened. The police took two people into custody.
French political figures condemned the act and described it as a physical assault against the head of state.
