Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has disrupted the country’s strategy in its relations with Iran. This was stated by former Mossad chief Tamir Pardo, as reported by JPost.
According to him, Netanyahu made a serious strategic error by entering into open conflict with the Obama and Biden administrations over Iran. The former Mossad chief questioned how Netanyahu dared to declare that Jerusalem would completely ignore Washington at a time when America provides both the aircraft and the weapons that Israel uses.
“We must do everything to prevent Iran from creating nuclear weapons,” but Netanyahu mistakenly treated this as an existential threat, as if, should Iran ever create such weapons, all Jews would have to flee the Middle East, he noted.
The former Mossad chief stated that Netanyahu’s policy helped the Trump administration withdraw from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, which led to Tehran enriching uranium to up to 60 percent.
According to Pardo, “Iran never even dreamed” that it could reach such an unprecedented level of uranium enrichment, but the lack of strategy on Israel’s part, together with the Trump administration, led to the fact that “the ayatollahs could create nuclear weapons within weeks.” He accused Netanyahu-led Israel of “first-rate tactics, but zero strategy.”
