There is a clear threat of a second wave of COVID-19; if the virus is not prevented, it could become devastating, said Hans Kluge, Director of the World Health Organization’s European Regional Office, during an online briefing, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“A second wave is not inevitable, but a large number of countries are lifting restrictions, and there is a clear threat of a second wave of COVID-19 infection; if it is not prevented, then there will be a second wave, and it could be very devastating,” said Kluge.
He noted that “today our situation is no better than it was at the beginning of the year.”
“We still have neither a vaccine nor a treatment against COVID,” he stressed.
