Young Armenian pianist Laura Galstyan took first place at the VIAF International Arts Competition-Festival held in Vienna. This prestigious Austrian competition took place from 15 to 21 July. Approximately 50 musicians participated under the performing arts category. Armenia was represented by 15-year-old Laura Galstyan, whose program included works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff.
The members of the international jury included world-renowned musicians and specialists such as Oleg Boliansky (Poland), Elena Doldsikh (Austria), Pandeleimon Bistofidis (Greece), Agnieszka Kaput (Poland), Makopo Nakan (Japan) and others.
Laura Galstyan is a student of renowned pianist and Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Hayk Melikyan. She studies at the A. Spendiaryan Music School. She was born in 2003 in Yerevan. She has studied with various specialist teachers. She has won various international awards, for example 3rd place at the Arno Babajanyan International Competition for Young Pianists (2015, Yerevan), first place at the Melos International Music Competition (2017, Rome, Italy), second place at the Feurich International Competition (2018, Vienna, Austria) and others.
On 15 September 2019, Laura Galstyan’s solo recital will take place in the concert hall of the Komitas Museum-Institute.
