The US State Department has welcomed Jordan’s announcement regarding the resumption of commercial flights with Syria.
Department spokesperson Galina Porter said that the United States welcomes this with regard to trade.
It is to be noted that Jordan and Syria have agreed that Royal Jordanian Airlines will resume its flights for the transport of passengers between Amman and Damascus, starting from the upcoming 3 October.
The Jordanian-Syrian agreement was reached with the aim of reactivating the Joint Water Committee, to follow up on the implementation of the agreement signed between the two countries in 1987, to revitalize the joint committees as soon as possible, and to cooperate in maximizing the use of the waters of the Yarmouk basin.
