In a message addressed to the Turkish community of Los Angeles, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu also spoke about the Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Azerbaijani processes.
He insisted that for lasting peace, Armenia and Azerbaijan must sign the comprehensive peace treaty proposed particularly by Azerbaijan.
Regarding the process of normalising Armenian-Turkish relations, Cavusoglu said the following: “We too have appointed special representatives to normalise relations with Armenia. We said, let us leave Vienna and Moscow aside, let us meet in Armenia, we took certain steps — we opened our airspace, direct flights began, and air transport and trade are starting. As a result, we have taken certain steps, but Armenia, because of the pressures upon it, is not yet able to take the bold steps we want.”
The minister blamed “certain American-Armenian circles,” which, according to him, are opposed to the normalisation of relations with Turkey.
