The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution on the problem of militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol, and the water areas of the Black and Azov Seas, condemning the blockade of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation.
As The Washington Post reports, 63 countries voted in favor of the resolution calling for the immediate withdrawal of military forces from the said territories, while 19 voted against, including Armenia. Meanwhile, 66 countries abstained, and 45 did not participate in the vote.
In addition to Armenia, Belarus, China, North Korea, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Venezuela, Syria and other states voted against the resolution.
It is noted that, unlike Security Council resolutions, General Assembly resolutions are not legally binding, although they reflect the viewpoint of the international community.
