Two high-ranking Azerbaijani officers have been killed as a result of clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border; this was announced by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Defense Minister Kerim Veliyev, as reported by Azerbaijani media outlets.
According to Veliyev, one is division commander (Major General) Polad Hashimov, and the other is Colonel Ilgar Mirzoyev.
As noted by Interfax’s Azerbaijani service, Azerbaijan lost 7 servicemen on 14 July alone; in addition to Mirzoyev and Hashimov, five more people were killed, including two officers.
“Majors Namik Hajagha oglu Ahmadov, Anar Guldavardi oglu Novruzov, non-commissioned officer Yashar Vasif oglu Babayev, non-commissioned officer Ilgar Ayaz oglu Zeynali, and contract serviceman Elchin Arif oglu Mustafazade were killed,” Veliyev said.
