Azerbaijan has announced that it shot down a Russian helicopter “by mistake.” This was stated by that country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Azerbaijani side gave as its reason that “the helicopter’s flight took place in the vicinity of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, while during that period intense military clashes were continuing in the zone of the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Karabakh conflict.” Baku apologized “for the incident” and stated that it is ready to compensate the families of the fallen pilots.
Earlier we had reported that Azerbaijani armed forces shot down a Russian helicopter in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, in the direction of Nakhichevan.
