US Secretary of State Antony Blinken believes that Russia’s goal is to restore the Soviet order, which is unacceptable for Washington. The head of American diplomacy has explained that this means the restoration of a Russian sphere of influence over post-Soviet countries. Blinken added that Washington considers such an “aspiration” unacceptable. For his part, Putin had stressed that the restoration of the USSR is meaningless and inexpedient for a number of reasons.
