Brazil has overtaken Great Britain in the number of deaths from the coronavirus and has moved into second place. This is attested to by the updated data of the country’s Ministry of Health, reports TASS.
In the last 24 hours, the number of deaths in the South American republic has increased by 909, reaching 41,828. In one day, 25,982 new cases of infection were detected. The total number of those infected with the coronavirus has reached 828,810. Some 365,063 patients have recovered, of whom 19,468 in the last 24 hours.
The main focus of the spread of the infection in the country remains the state of São Paulo, which accounts for 168,000 cases of infection and 10,368 deaths. Second is Rio de Janeiro (77,784 infected, 7,417 deaths).
