Chavushoglu: ‘We Support Azerbaijan’

Turkey will support Azerbaijan in the case of any option for the settlement of the Karabakh issue, Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu has declared during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. “Armenia is avoiding the settlement of the conflict and is aggravating the situation in order to obstruct peaceful negotiations,” Chavushoglu declared. Bayramov, for his part, expressed gratitude for Turkey’s support on this issue. Turkey will support Azerbaijan in the case of any option for the settlement of the Karabakh issue, Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu has declared during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

“Armenia is avoiding the settlement of the conflict and is aggravating the situation in order to obstruct peaceful negotiations,” Chavushoglu declared.

Bayramov, for his part, expressed gratitude for Turkey’s support on this issue.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister arrived in Ankara on 11 August, his first official visit since assuming that post last month. In addition to Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister also arrived in Ankara. According to the official communiqué, Zakir Hasanov met with his Turkish counterpart, as well as with Turkish President Recep Erdogan.

Earlier, official Yerevan had criticised Turkey for aggravating the conflict, and the Minsk Group co-chair Russia had also urged restraint from steps and statements that could further inflame the situation.
